Gloucestershire Ladies Make History

Gloucestershire ladies travelled to Teignmouth RFC to play Devon Ladies on a very hot May bank holiday, with a reduced playing squad of 19 players.

Devon drew first blood with a well worked try to lead 5-0 on 6 minutes, within 4 minutes Gloucestershire had drawn level through an Emily Codd try 5-5. Devon applied pressure from the restart and scored again on 15 minutes 10-5,  straight from the KO  Simi Pam cut a great line and broke three tackles to score Gloucestershire’s second 10-10. Devon pressed again and scored two more tries in 12 minutes to lead 20-10, Gloucestershire did not give up and on 34 minutes Simi scored another try converted by Lisa Braunevova to make the score at HT 20-17.

In the second Half Devon again started quickly with a try 25-17 to which Gloucestershire responded through Nat English with their fourth try which was converted by Lisa Braunevova 25-24. The heat and the quality of the Devon bench started to show come the end and Devon ran in a string of try’s to end the game winners 49-24.

At the end of the game Gloucestershire President Keith Gee made history by presenting the first ever Gloucestershire cap to Suzie Walker from Cheltenham Ladies
