More Players - Playing More Often

The majority of clubs couldn't survive without the many people who willingly dedicate their time to be part of the rugby volunteer workforce. Supporting volunteers and volunteering is an intergral part of Gloucestershire RFU's activities.

The GRFU Volunteering Sector works alongisde the RFU Professional Staff, and our member clubs, to support volunteers in clubs across the county. Our aims, as a sector, are simple - to recruit, retain and recognise rugby volunteers throughout Gloucestershire.

Please see below for more information on the committee members' of the GRFU's Volunteers Sector.

Volunteer Co-ordinator:  Richard Stewart

MOBILE: 07842835178

Richard has been playing rugby since the age of 9. He represented Gloucestershire at under 15s and 18s, and played his youth rugby at Spartans and Cinderford. After a few years out of the game, he became player-coach at Newent RFC, before moving on to Widden Old Boys for a season, and then returning back to Cinderford. In his late 20s he joined Gloucester All Blues before a long term disability meant that he could no longer partake in contact sport.

He now takes part and coaches in inclusive rugby, both with the mixed ability and walking rugby squads with Gloucester rugby and is a key part of making walking rugby available throughout the county. He is in contact with clubs across the country about moving inclusive rugby forward and making it more accessible to others. Richard joined the committee of the Volunteers Sector in August 2017.
